A mother who followed her passion to find a new venture

For every mother, having children is a beautiful and wonderful journey, but it comes with the price of giving up their career and full-time job. Jenn is one of them. Like many mums out there, Jenn wants to spend enough quality time with her children but she also wanted to create something for herself.

Three years ago, Jenn came across Korean Buttercream Flowers and instantly fell in love with it. She then began browsing the internet, watching youtube videos, flipping recipe books and spent up to several hours at a time to practice making buttercream flowers.

Eventually, she mastered the art of piping, a method used to decorate thin lines of icing or cream to decorate cakes and desserts. Jenn went through lots of self-learning and what seems like endless practices but the learning process was what helped her during hard times being a mum.

To Jenn, it calms her down and makes her focus each time she piped them out. Amid her hard times looking after two toddlers, these edible blooming flowers put a smile on her face. “...It gave me the confidence I need as a stay-at-home mom, letting me realized once again that stay-at-home mums can achieve a lot more than what they thought they could”, said Jenn.

Then, she thought to herself, “why not make others smile too?”. That was when she decided to start her business “Butter and Blossoms”. She tries to bring some classic Asian flavoured cake into her baking and incorporate these edible buttercream flowers which originated from Korea. She even has the Malaysian (ondeh-ondeh) Pandan Gula Melaka flavours and Coffee Melaka!

Jenn wanted to “bring people back to their childhood and introduced cakes and cupcakes that not only can taste good but look good too without the use of fondant”. Below are some pictures of her amazing work.
