The Chilli Paste is the core of many Balinese/Indonesian meals. In addition to being the core ingredient for the Nasi Goreng/Mie Goreng (Fried Rice/Fried Noodle) dishes, the Chilli Paste is used also to “spice” up the Curry Paste to the desired taste.
Use the paste on hamburgers and sandwiches for the ultimate flavour blast or simply use as dipping sauce/sambal on the side for bakar/goreng (grilled/fried) dishes.
The paste contains a small amount of concentrated shrimp (small prawn) paste – known as terasi in Indonesia.
