Peanut sauce (also known as satay sauce) is the taste most often associated with Bali – it is a very common sight (and smell!) as you travel around Bali to see people cooking satay meats on skewers over burning coconut husks on the side of the street – with the skewers served with a generous helping of satay sauce. It is a versatile and extremely easy to prepare sauce that can be used in any meat dish or BBQ.
Additionally, with its authentic flavour, this sauce provides an excellent dipping sauce for chips, carrots, celery and others. For extra spiciness, the Bali in a Jar Chilli Paste can be added or for extra sweetness, try with a bit of kecap manis (sweet soy sauce).
